On Sports and Life - A Compilations of Essays by Mike Cornelius

When our dear friend, Mike, left us for the great fairway in the sky in early 2023, my husband and I decided to preserve his writing by culling some nuggets from the more than 1000 sports essays he wrote over a period of ten years.

He was an ardent baseball fan and a longtime golfer who wrote a lot about the Yankees and the PGA, but he also left no stone unturned in covering the full landscape of the sports world.  He wrote with uncanny insight about some of the major moments in sports history, and captured the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" with a voice reminiscent of well-known sportswriters, like Frank Deford and Rick Reilly.  Mike's essays are like parables that connect sports and everyday life.

Many thanks to Bob Pritchard for helping to prepare this great collection of Mike's work.
